Data Source Code (EDI Indicator) (IMT-DATA-SOURCE)

The data source indicator is a one-byte flag found in position 96. This flag has undergone a number of changes over the years. It now exists as a quarter-specific item in the Micro record. As such, any valid value that is found here will be transferred to the newest quarter represented in the IMT quarters table. Most often, this flag will be set by external processes, such as the CENCO MWR data processing (Job 024C and 024D) which can assign a “C” (CENCO quality data requiring few edits), an “E” (EDI data that should still be edited), or an “X” (a former EDI participant that has ceased sending MWR’s to the EDIC Center). Other values (generally still under development) include “M” (web-collected MWR data), “Q” (for web-collected Quarterly Contribution Report (QCR) data), and “S” (for State media data) can come from varied sources; all but the “Q” and possibly the “S” will seldom be derived from an extract of U-I data. If such data source values are available in the State, they may be used here. Otherwise, the field should be set to low-values.
