Inconsistent County and Township Codes Check - Code 065

This edit checks an internal table, built from the Lookup File’s ‘CZ’ records (for county-zone combinations), to ensure that the sub-county zone or township code specified is valid within the identified county. The zone/township edit is performed only in States that utilize the zone/township verification feature. This is identified with a switch in the Lookup File’s “STATE” record, which is set by the ES2L CICS transaction. Inactive accounts are included in this edit, provided they are not master accounts.

If verification is called for, a county-zone table in working storage will identify all county and zone/township pairs found in the Lookup File. A binary search (i.e., SEARCH ALL) is conducted on the table to track down the county-zone combination. If the combination is not found, the zone or township field is flagged (to be underscored in the edit report), and the edit flag is locked (keeping the edits in a non-completed status) since this is considered a crucial exception. The zone or township code must be adjusted to conform to the established values in the CZ records before the account will be allowed to pass the edits in subsequent micro edit runs. A mid-year township code change will also be flagged by Code 120. If the employer meets the PK067 or PK068 “gross” employment/wage cutoffs, this condition will be flagged as a gross error. BLS classification: A.1.4 or B.1.5, depending on the size of the establishment. EXPO “G” code: A065 or B065.
