New/Changed Physical Address Indicator (IMT-NEW-CHNGD-ADDR-IND)

The new-or-changed address indicator is a one-byte switch found in position 102. On the Micro File this field designates whether the physical location address has recently been modified. When such a change of address occurs, this switch signals BLS that new geocoding information is needed. Some States may also use this switch to adjust the sub-county zone or township code to correspond to the new location. This indicator can isolate those accounts that are potential candidates for all of these changes.

This is an interpreted field in the Micro File. In other words, the value is not set directly, but is deduced by detecting changes to the physical location address block. Because of this policy, the IMT-NEW-CHNGD-ADDR-IND field should be left as low-values.
