Job EARJ102D - Conduct Refiling File Edits

RUN THIS JOB - As required.

This job executes the following programs (click to link to each program description):

Job Features and Functions

  • Performs the BLS-defined edits on Refiling File
  • Edits are performed only on records that are present on both the Refiling File and Micro File
  • Failed records receive three digit error codes
  • Primarily Address and NAICS edits
  • Sets response codes to '64' if status ‘2’ on Micro File for current quarter

Job 102D performs validity edits on Refiling File codes (NAICS, county, ownership, etc.) similar to, and numbered the same as, EXPO micro edits. An Exception Report is generated and error codes are forwarded to the Refiling File’s record for the account.

102D is designed to perform batch edits on records in the Refiling File. Subsequent to the creation of the Refiling File (Job 100A), and prior to the initial mailing of the refiling forms, records should be edited with Job 102D. This micro edit job performs a series of checks for valid data, primarily mailing addresses and NAICS codes, and prints a report of edit exceptions.

The program uses both the EXPO Lookup File and internal program tables for validating data. As errors are identified, error codes are posted to appropriate Refiling File records. Up to three (three-digit) error codes can be stored in each record. Job 107D and the EARF screen search the error code field to identify and list records, when a type of error is used as the selection criteria. Subsequent to on-line or batch corrections to Refiling File records with errors, another run of the edit program (Job 102D), should be run to re-edit the Refiling File to insure all errors have been identified and properly corrected.

This micro edit job can be run on demand. However, with each run, all records in the Refiling File are edited or reedited and appropriate error codes are posted or removed from appropriate Refiling File records. A date is printed on the Exception Report. If several edits are run during the course of refiling, each can be distinguished by the date.

This job also performs a routine to change Refiling File response codes to 64, if the record has been changed to inactive status in the current quarter on the Micro File.
