Miscellaneous Utility Batch Job Descriptions
Most of the rest of the utility batch jobs are used to provide backup and restore capabilities for all of the major system files. They are found in the “T” section, so the jobs may be run individually. They do not appear in the regular C-List jobs.
To access them, use “=6” to get into the “ISPF Command Shell,” then type “T” to select the other jobs menu.
- Type “3B” in the Select option to select backup jobs.
- Use “3R” for restore jobs.
These jobs end in “B” for a backup job and “R” for a restore job. Backups and restores are usually unnecessary because most files modified by a batch job are first backed up. This is to be sure the content is accessible. This is one reason the jobs have been moved to the “T” option of the C-List, where most States don’t run jobs.
The jobs include the following:

070B - Back up Administrative Transaction File | 070R - Restore Administrative Transaction File |

A few utility jobs have a non-standard identification for specialized functions. Note that some jobs had originally been designed to send data to a cartridge (using a “C” type). Now the data will go to a disk file instead.
The miscellaneous jobs include:
ES2J076E - Create Enhanced (1604-Byte) Micro Output File
- Backs up the Micro File in an expanded format (converting all of the packed and computational fields to a straight unpacked version). This is stored as a disk file.
ES2J076L - Copy Micro File to Disk (Version 8.0 - 1737-Byte Format)
- Copies the Micro File to a V8.0 format (1737-byte) record, so that the file can be FTP’d at the State’s discretion. Unlike the 076C job, the output of this file will not have any compressed fields (packed or computational), but will have everything in a “flat” format that can be readily accessed.
ES2J076N - Copy Micro File to Disk (Version 7.0 - 1737-Byte Format)
- Copies the Micro File to a V7.0 format (1737-byte) output record, stored on disk, so the file can be FTP’d.
ES2J076P - Copy Micro File to Disk (Version 6.0 - 1365-Byte Format)
- Convert the Micro File to a V6.0 format (1365-byte data) as a disk back-up. This format is fairly old, but is still needed if the State’s extract process gathers micro data in this format.
ES2J078D - Copy Micro Edit File to Comma-Delimited Format
- Send the Micro Edit File to a comma-delimited format so it can be processed in an FTP operation and loaded into an Excel spreadsheet.
ES2J081S - Sort Wage Temp File by UI Account Number
ES2J084F - Allocate IMT File before FTP Load of Data
- Builds an empty IMT File so it can be loaded by FTP operation.
ES2J084G - Allocate Standard UI Files (Non-Quarter, Quarter, P/S) for FTP
- Builds empty files (non-quarterly, quarterly, P/S) for the standard output. These files will be populated from Standard extract data prior to being converted to an IMT record with the 084I job.
ES2J084I - Convert Standard UI Files to IMT File
- Converts a standard-format extract file (in non-quarterly, quarterly and predecessor-successor files) to an IMT File.
ES2J084S - Sort IMT File by UI Account and RUN
- Sorts the IMT File into proper UI-RUN sequence.
ES2J084T - Sort All Standard Files Before 084I Job is Run
ES2J084X - Apply Fixes to the IMT File
- Applies fixes to the IMT File that are often State-specific, but need to be set up prior to the IMT File running in one of the 001- jobs.
ES2J087F - Allocate Wage Data Temp File Prior to FTP Loading
- Allocates space for a Wage Data Temp File to be populated with an FTP load.
ES2J088F - Allocate ETT File Prior to FTP Loading
- Allocates space for an ETT File so it can be populated via FTP.
ES2J088S - Allocate Matched Pairs File
- A Matched Pairs File is populated via a PC-run job using the Wage File that is produced from the LEHD File, then it is used in Job 062S.
ES2J088W - Allocate Wage Summary File for Wage File Process
- Allocates space for the Wage Summary File, which is a sequential version of the data that will be loaded from a PC File, then used by Job 060U to load a quarter’s worth of wage summary data.
ES2J090F - Allocate IMAT File Prior to FTP Loading
- Allocates space for an empty IMAT File to be built prior to its populating with an FTP operation.
EARJ172F - Allocate IRT File Prior to FTP Loading
- Allocates space for an IRT File to be populated later with an FTP load.
