Automatic Bookmarks

As you advance from one record to another, a bookmark is automatically updated, indicating your current location within the edits. When you need to leave ES2E (for lunch, a coffee break, switching to another screen, or at the end of the day), the program keeps this bookmark. The next time you come to ES2E, the bookmarked record will be redisplayed and you can proceed with the edits without interruption. If you enter ES2E from one of the ES2C screens, however, the last displayed record from the “C” screen will be used instead of the bookmarked record. That bookmark will still be maintained, though, unless the new “C” record is used, acted upon, or browsed past (with the F7 or F8 key). If you simply return to the ES2C screen from ES2E without taking any special action on the record, the original bookmark will remain intact.

Bookmark records are stored in the Lookup File with a record key beginning with “QE”, followed by the CICS log-on ID of the person setting the bookmark; the data within this record is the current Micro Edit File key, so that the record can be readily retrieved later. There are also “QD” type bookmarks, which note the position within the macro edits (used in ES2D). If you want to erase a bookmark, you can press the F5 key to clear the current account’s data from the screen, while simultaneously eliminating the bookmark record from the Lookup File.
