Total Wage Estimation

Two situations can flag the total wage figure as being considered missing. The first is simple; if the total wage indicator flag is set to ‘M’, it is missing. The other condition is substantially more involved, however. If the total wage field is estimated (i.e., with an ‘E’ indicator, or prorated with a ‘P’ indicator), and it is a worksite that is part of a family with all worksites delinquent (as far as wage data are concerned), and if, in addition to everything else, the associated master account of this worksite has been modified so that its edit flag is reset, then the wage field is flagged as missing. Finally, if a master account’s total wages have been estimated by summing the reported worksite wages (i.e., showing an ‘S’ indicator), but the worksite wage values have been subsequently modified, then this wage field can also be deemed “missing.”

An account that fails to fall into one of the above “missing” categories is ineligible for total wage estimation. Processing continues at the Taxable Wage Estimation processing portion of the program. For accounts that require a total wage estimate, processing is split according to the MEEI code of the record. Master, single, and worksite records are each dealt with separately, described in the paragraphs below:
