This edit compares taxable wages to total wages for the processed quarter and the quarter immediately preceding the processed quarter. Since taxable wages are the taxable portion of the total wages, it should not be possible for taxable wages to exceed the total wage value. If the taxable wage figure is found to be larger than the total wage amount, this exception is produced, flagging the taxable wage field with underscores in the edit report. This is a crucial-level condition, which will lock the edit flag until the problem is dealt with. Any subsequent runs of the micro edit process will continue to show this edit exception as long as the conflict exists. BLS classification: A.1.4 or B.1.5, based on employment level. EXPO “G” code: A062 or B062.
