No Physical Address for Large Employer - Code 088
The No-Physical-Location-Address Check was introduced in Version 8.1, split off from its initial introduction as a supplement to the No-Usable-Address Check (Code 070) in Version 8.0. If the employment exceeds the PK080 limit, and none of the addresses present are for a physical location, then Code 088 is flagged. This can be assigned whether there are any addresses present at all (i.e., there could be a simultaneous flagging of Code 070 and 088 if the employment level is high enough).
Physical location addresses are becoming increasingly important to BLS for geocoding purposes. As such, they want to target large employers first, so as to have the highest employment percentage represented with longitude, latitude, and other geocoding data. In spite of the importance of this information, this is not considered a “gross” error. BLS classification: B.1.6. EXPO “G” code: B088.
