Code 164 - NAICS Code Change Check

This edit follows the lines of the county and ownership conflict checks (Code 156 and 157, respectively), described earlier. It expects NAICS codes generally to remain the same in the transition from the predecessor to the successor. If the predecessor and successor NAICS values are not identical for a moderate- to large-size establishment-level transfer (defined previously). Coding of this edit check is the following -

Unlike standard non-economic code change checks, first quarter changes are not bypassed in the predecessor-to-successor code change checks. Unclassified predecessor NAICS codes are ignored by the edit. The edit description listed in the control totals is “Predecessor/Successor NAICS Code Change Conflict.” BLS classification: B.2.7.
