Facsimile (Fax) Machine Phone Number (IMT-FAX-PHONE-NUM)
The facsimile (fax) machine phone number has the same format as the phone number just described. It does not, however, possess an extension, nor is the fax phone number to be included on the BLS EQUI deliverable. Located in positions 524 - 533, the fax number is subdivided into two parts, the area code, IMT-FAX-AREA, in 524 - 526, and IMT-FAX-PHONE, found in positions 527 - 533. The latter field is further sub-divided into the exchange, IMT-FAX-PH-PFX, in positions 527 - 529, and the suffix, IMT-FAX-PH-SFX, in positions 530- 533.
Fax machine phone numbers can come in very handy for the QCEW unit, but only if the datum is accurate. Although no edits are conducted on the content of this phone number (until the micro edits are run and edit code 112 can find some fax format problems), data should be verified whenever and however possible. For any account possessing a known fax phone number, it should be provided here. If the account has no known fax phone number, or if it is unchanged in the IMT record at hand, the fields should all be set to low-values.
