First Month’s Employment (IMTQ-M1-EMPL(1))
The first month's employment count for the current quarter is a 6-digit field, located at positions 733 - 738 in the record. If the employment has been reported, copy the first month's figure to this field and set the corresponding estimation flag (IMTQ-M1-IND(1) (described next) to a space or “R” value. See the description of IMTQ-M1-IND(1) below for further description of the indicator flag values and usage.
If the employment has not been reported, but has been estimated by some process external to the exportable QCEW system, copy the estimated value to the field and set the estimation flag to “E”. If your QCEW unit staff prefers to allow the estimation program (ES2MI02) to re-estimate the data instead, move zero to the field and set the indicator flag to “M”.
If the employment value is missing or the account is delinquent, either leave both fields set to low-values or set the employment field value to zero and the indicator flag to “M”. If the value is unchanged, set both fields to low-values.
