Status Code (IMTQ-STATUS(1))

The status code is a 1-byte numeric field at location 692. It shows whether the account is active (value of '1'), inactive (value of '2'), or pending activation (value of '9'). A pending account is one which is being established now, but will not be active until a future quarter.

An account that is active for any portion of the quarter should have an active status code (value '1'). An account that is active for part of the quarter is regarded by this flag to be equally eligible for selection as one that is active for the entire quarter; this aids in determining which accounts are to be included in reports, macro processing, etc. Only accounts that are inactive for the entirety of the quarter should be counted as status '2'.

Generally only the current (or newest available IMT) quarter's status code is vital to processing. Other quarters’ status codes may be set to low-values, which will prevent alterations to existent records, and will allow system defaults for new records. These system-generated assignments will be based on liability and termination dates, as well as whether reported employment and wage data are found for the account.

Note: It has generally been regarded by many that it is the system’s responsibility to set status codes based upon the liability, EOL and reactivation dates. The newest quarter’s status code can assist in reinforcing the intent to set an account active or inactive. If an IMT extract includes both future and current quarter data, then the current quarter’s status code setting may be helpful for processing both quarters, and should be included in any data extraction.
