Job 118D - Produce the Code-Change Summary Master List

Earj118d.png

The 118D job provides a supplementary report required by BLS as part of the annual refiling process. This is the Code Change Summary (CCS) Master List, which is separate and distinct from the “Code Change Supplement” (another ‘CCS’) that is produced as a preparatory step to building the Summary of Differences Report (and File) in the EARJ110D job. This job carries only two parameters, as shown below.

1. Sort Option - This switch allows the Master List to be shown in either SESA ID or in standard macro sort sequence (county-owner-NAICS). These are described below.

  • a. ‘A’ (“Account”) - This is a “non-sorting” sequence, since the incoming data will already be presented in SESA ID sequence. If selected, the “A” option will make sure that the CCS Master List will appear in SESA ID (U-I account number plus Reporting Unit Number (RUN)) order.
  • b. ‘C’ (“County-Owner-NAICS”) - The alternative sort sequence is intended to present the CCS Master List in the same order as the Macro File (county-owner-NAICS).

Warning: There are some States that use the “ONC” sequence option for macro data, meaning that the Macro File is sorted first by ownership, then by NAICS, and finally by county. However, this sort option does not adapt itself for these States. The C-O-N sequence will be of little or no value to an O-N-C State, but the C-O-N order is specified by BLS.

The EARJ118D job is an on-demand job, so can be run at any time. However, it is generally called upon only in the end phase of the annual survey process. As with other CCS-type jobs, it requires the refiling code changes to be applied to the Micro File. Therefore, it must run after a code change transfer (Job 013D or first-quarter Job 242D) job has completed. It is therefore most likely to be run in about July or August.
