Parameter Descriptions Introduction

The batch job parameter entry selections within the ES2N (EXPO) and EARN (EARS) CICS screens are some of the most important aspects of utilizing the EXPO/EARS system. Parameter selections can seem complicated, but are explained in detail here. This appendix lays out the contents of each of the parameter entry screens, job by job, explaining how each parameter is used and the effects of different settings to the parameters. These are cross-linked with the documentation for the individual jobs themselves so that both resources may be used side-by-side. This appendix has been designed for on-line usage, since actual screen images have been used, rather than replicating data in hand-typed pseudo screens. This preserves the screen colors and highlights (though a white screen background has been selected for the samples rather than a black screen, in case there is a need to print this documentation). Although each parameter item is given a sequence number for the purpose of organization in this document, these numbers do not appear on the parameter entry screens. For example, “Parameter #1 - Newest Year/Quarter” only notes that it is the first parameter listed from top to bottom.

Note: The batch jobs are described in numeric sequence, so that micro jobs (#001-047) appear first, followed by wage-data jobs (#060-063), the other utility job (084), then EARS (refiling) jobs (#100-124), and finally macro-related jobs (#241-249).
