Multiple Worksite Report "Tape" File Data Set Name: WS.ES202.MWR.TAPE Service Center DSN: YBUssX.A145.MWR.TAPE, ('ss' = State FIPS code) Type of File: Sequential File Layout: ES2MWRT The MWR Tape (or other media) Input File has been defined by the BLS as a standardized method of Multi Worksite Report data entry, by an employer or the EDI center, to be submitted on magnetic media. There have been four formats of this file. The first, instituted in 1992 (with the S-92-14 technical memorandum), had a 300-byte record length. The second format, with 310-byte records, first appeared in the spring of 1995, using three record formats (for preparer ('1'), individual data ('2'), and family total values ('3')). The third format made its debut in early 1997, with a 350-byte record length. The latest format uses a 424-byte record, and is listed in the ES2MWRX copy member (described next). The 300-byte and 310-byte formats are no longer processed by EXPO. There are three "flavors of the 350-byte format, a pre-Y2K version, a standard Y2K-compliant version, and a PEO-specific Y2K-compliant version. Eventually the non-Y2K-compliant record format will be done away with as well. An MWRT file may represent single or multiple tapes, diskettes, etc., collected for processing in the ES2J024D job (or EDI-center special version 024E). This collection process involves appending received MWR tapes to the composite files. If multiple MWRT files are merged, they should be sorted by SESA ID to improve processing efficiency. |
