Job ES2J003D - Multi Balance Report / Micro Edit Update

RUN THIS JOB - As required.

This job executes the following programs (click to link to each program description):

Job Features and Functions

  • Performs multi-balance check for current quarter – compares the sum of the sub-units to the master
    • (option) – prior quarter
  • Updates and writes exceptions to the Micro Edit File for reviewing in ES2H
    • Existing exceptions from previous runs of 003D are removed and replaced by latest run of 003D
  • Option to sort report by ownership code
    • Doesn’t affect sequence of Micro Edit File
  • Options to include or exclude PEO’s (leasing companies), pre-solicitations, EDI’s and delinquent families
  • Balance tolerances are set in Lookup File – Edit and Estimation parameter table

Note: Job 003D differs from 003S in two major aspects: (1) 003S does not write multi balance exceptions to the Micro Edit File. 003S only produces an Exception Report. (2) 003S will perform a multi balance edit for any quarter on the Micro File, instead of being limited to current or prior quarter only.

Job 003D is a balance edit program. It performs an additivity check for multi employers for the current or prior quarter. Employment and wages are summed for each multi account of worksite records and compared against the master account. Out-of-balance families are noted in the Micro Edit File for on-line review with the ES2H screen. However, this information is not forwarded to BLS via the EQUI deliverable files (they need to conduct their own balance edits).

An Exception Report is generated as well, displaying out-of-balance multi families. A Warning Messages Report can also be produced by this job. A second Exception Report produced by this job that identifies incomplete multi family structures, such as a master with no sub-units, active sub-units with no corresponding master, etc.

Edit tolerance levels can be adjusted with the ES2L screen’s edit and estimation parameters table within the Lookup File. Tolerances can be adjusted at any time by the user to conform to State-specific needs. The first set of tolerance levels applies to each of the three months of employment, the second set applies to total wages and taxable wages, and the third set (a percentage multiplier of the wage tolerances) applies to contributions.

Job 003S can be run instead of 003D if multi-balance edits are needed for any quarter other than the current or immediately prior quarter; this job will not update the Micro Edit File, but relies solely on the printed report output.
