Job ES2J042D - Special EQUI Production

RUN THIS JOB - As required.

This job executes the following programs (click to link to each program description):

Job Features and Functions

  • Edits the Micro File between initial and update EQUI
  • Identifies records designated for inclusion on update EQUI
  • Produces an exception report of update EQUI records
  • Does not write exceptions to the Micro Edit file – report only

Job 042D acts as a final check and edit for the EQUI record cleanup run. During this one-month time span, the correction of micro data can receive interference from IMT extracts that can introduce new problems in data integrity. To counteract this, BLS is limiting the scope of records to be included on the EQUI to those that experience code changes, status changes, or extensive employment or wage shifts.

Job 042D is designed to assist in preparing data for the cleanup EQUI. Since States are allowed to continue to extract and load data to their Micro File during the cleanup period, including data for the quarter submitted in the initial EQUI, significant changes can occur during this clean up period. Job 042D edits only those records that will be included in the cleanup EQUI and that had the types of changes during the cleanup period that meet the new BLS correction policy. An Exception Report is produced, but no records are written to the Micro Exception File. Based on the Exception Report, appropriate changes and comments can be made before the cleanup EQUI submittal. This review process allows the State to move ahead with the next quarter’s extract during the cleanup period and optionally bring data into the Micro File for other quarters, while the prior quarter is still under review by BLS.

This edit identifies numerous types of changes including status changes, deletions, new predecessor/successor information, unclassified codes changed to classified, and significant employment and wage changes.

Update-eligible employers are listed on Exception Report within this job for a final review to spot typographic and other errors before the final deliverable is released. Of course, this would be for early-submittal States only; all others would use the subset option in the 021F job.
