EQUI Subset Record Selection

The PF17 (Shift-F5) key is used to add subset records to the “SUBS” Account Group, often maintained in the ES2Z screen, and processed for subset production in Job 021F. The BLS National Office will review EQUI data and occasionally find a record that seems highly unusual, even if it comes complete with explanatory comment codes or even narrative comments. For these extreme conditions, the State is asked to verify the data and send an EQUI subset record. The subset records are found in the Group File and are comprised of an account number and a year/quarter field.

When a request comes through for an EQUI subset record, the establishment in question can be called up on the Front ES2C Screen. Moving the cursor to anywhere on the line of the questioned quarter and pressing the PF17 key will create a subset record for this SESA ID and year/quarter combination. If the cursor is not in the quarterly data area when the PF17 key is pressed, no action is taken, since it is unknown which quarter is to be selected. A prompt is displayed in the message line with instructions to direct the cursor to the affected quarter. Sometimes BLS needs to have more than one quarter’s data in the subset; if so, click on each of the desired quarters and press the PF17 key once for each quarter’s line.

The F11, F12, and PF24/Shift-F12 keys allow the user to see the rest of the micro data in the Wage Summary, Codes, and Geocoding ES2C screens, respectively. These switches act as toggles so that pressing the same key again will return control to the Front ES2C screen. The other screens are described in the next pages.
