The First Mass Layoff Statistics (MLS) Output File (also known as the Large-Record MLS File) is produced by the 34D job as part of the output to the Mass Layoff Statistics Unit.  A parameter specified in the job declares an employment split level to use for the job's processing.  Only establishments with employment that meets or exceeds this limit are eligible for inclusion in the First MLS File.  Since this file represents the larger employers, they carry far more information than those in the second MLS file (described later), as they are more likely to be associated with a mass layoff.

Once the 34D job has completed execution, this file is available for processing or download by or for the MLS staff.  It is not deleted by the job, as it is essentially a deliverable.
