Micro Edit File Data Set Name: WS.ES202.MICRO.EDIT Service Center DSN: YBUssX.A145.MICRO.EDIT, ('ss' = State FIPS code) Type of File: VSAM indexed File Layout: ES2MIED CICS ID: ES2MIED (standard); EssMIED (Service Center; ss=State) As the name implies, this file stores information related to current micro edits. The Micro Edit File is updated by standard editing batch jobs (001D, 001Q, 002D, 028D, and 242D). By "standard", we mean dealing with the current and immediate prior quarter of the Micro File, as these are the edits that are stored for on-line review. Other jobs also conduct the micro edits, but only store them temporarily; these jobs include 002F (dealing with future and current quarter), 008D (processing any specific Micro File quarter, except for the very oldest), and 028S (editing two consecutive historical or "back" quarters). Since the saving of such information would interfere with the primary edit reconciliation process, these alternate jobs will only produce an edit report. Two other jobs (008S – faster Fester, and 018D – "A" list edit report) read the current Micro Edit File, but it could contain obsolete data, rendering the report from these jobs less useful. The only on-line update capability for this file is found with the ES2E and ES2H screens. Here, accounts found on the Micro Edit File are re-edited on-line, with the results posted to the Micro Edit File. If all former edit conditions have been reconciled, the record is removed from this file. Locating micro edit information based on account number or a targeted error code, is accomplished with the Micro Edit Cross-Reference (MEXR) File, described earlier. |
