Micro-to-Macro Data Collection File (ES2MIMA)
ES2MIMA - Length 58 - Revised 9/8/2006
Columns | Len | Key | Type | COBOL Field Name | Description & Notes
1 | 1 | 1 | Key | Char | MIMA-IND-TYPE | Industry type code; 'N'AICS or 'Z' for fuzzed data adjustment (there had been an 'S' option (for SIC processing) until Version 9, when SIC-based macro data were no longer updated |
2 | 11 | 10 | Key | Char | MIMA-CON | County, ownership and industry coding of micro record, subdivided below |
2 | 4 | 3R | Key | Char | MIMA-CNTY | County FIPS code |
5 | 5 | 1R | Key | Char | MIMA-OWN | Ownership code, '1' = Federal, '2' = State, '3' = Local, '5' = Private |
6 | 11 | 6R | Key | Char | MIMA-NAICS | North American Industry Classification System, sub-divided for SIC below |
6 | 9 | 4R | Key | Char | MIMA-SIC | Standard Industrial Classification, if last two digits of NAICS code are blank (this ought not to be necessary, but is kept as a hold-over from earlier versions) |
2 | 11 | 10R | Key | Char | MIMA-ONC | Alternate macro sequencing, using owner-industry-county instead of the standard county-owner-industry sorting method |
2 | 2 | 1R | Key | Char | MIMAO-OWN | Ownership code for "ONC"-sequence State; same values as shown above |
3 | 8 | 6R | Key | Char | MIMAO-NAICS | NAICS code in ONC State |
3 | 6 | 4R | Key | Char | MIMAO-SIC | SIC code (used in place of NAICS for some MIMA records) in ONC State; this is most likely never going to be used |
9 | 11 | 3R | Key | Char | MIMAO-CNTY | FIPS County code in ONC State |
12 | 14 | 3R | Key | Char | MIMA-YRQ | Year/quarter for micro data (yyq format) |
15 | 29 | 15 | Char | MIMA-SESA-ID | U-I account and reporting unit combination
30 | 33 | 4 | Comp | MIMA-MON1 | First month's employment; this is a signed, 6-digit field, because data collection related to the "Z" macro records can involve negative adjustments
34 | 37 | 4 | Comp | MIMA-MON2 | Second month's employment; this is a signed, 6-digit field, because data collection related to the "Z" macro records can involve negative adjustments
38 | 41 | 4 | Comp | MIMA-MON3 | Third month's employment; this is a signed, 6-digit field, because data collection related to the "Z" macro records can involve negative adjustments
42 | 47 | 6 | Pack | MIMA-TOTW | Total wages, an unsigned, 11-digit field
48 | 53 | 6 | Pack | MIMA-TAXW | Taxable wages, unsigned, 11 digits
54 | 57 | 4 | Comp | MIMA-CTRB | Contributions due, a 9-digit value; this is listed as signed for processing efficiency
58 | 58 | 1 | Char | MIMA-NARR-CMNT-IND | Flag to note presence of a narrative comment for the quarter, 'Y' = Narrative exists
Micro/Macro Data Collection File Data Set Name: WS.ES202.MICRO.MACRO Service Center DSN: YBUssX.A145.MICRO.MACRO, ('ss' = State FIPS code) Type of File: Sequential File Layout: ES2MIMA This file is built with jobs 241D and 242D in order to construct replacement quarterly data for the Macro File. The individual micro-level records in this file are sorted by county, ownership and industry (or owner/industry/county for certain States), to allow aggregation of the data into macro cell-level form. The replacement macro records are then used to rebuild those quarters on the Macro File. Once this is done, the Macro File is resorted by ownership and industry so that the Statewide Macro File can be rebuilt from scratch. As soon as this procedure has completed, the "MIMA" file is deleted. |
