Refiling Survey Summary Management File Data Set Name: EAR.NEW.SURVEY.MGMT Service Center DSN: YBUssX.A145.NEW.SURVEY.MGMT ('ss' = State FIPS code) Type of File: Sequential File Layout: EARRSMR The Refiling Survey Summary Management Report File contains a host of statistical data related to the progress of the annual refiling survey at the time either Job EARJ106D (on-demand basis) or EARJ106M (monthly basis) is run. Data are broken out by refiling response code, by NAICS sector, and by size classification, with both "raw" record counts and percentage values. Although some of these are intended to show how much of the year's refiling process have been completed, many others are designed simply to show the statistical "fingerprint" of the data (the general characteristics of code changes, competition among NAICS sectors, or the prevalence of auxiliary establishments within the refiling data. Separate statistics are kept for CMI codes to track the progress of phone-based refiling responses for the TDE (aka TRS) employers. This procedure is only employed by a few select states for 2001-2002, but may be expanded in later years. The synopses are gathered from the Refiling File and the Lookup File's Survey Log records. In addition, comparison totals from the previous run of this job (106D or 106M) are loaded from the most recent Survey Management File. Percentages allow the record counts to be set to scale so that absolute refiling progress may be more easily determined. This file is generated by the "summary manager" program of the 106D and 106M jobs. Thereafter, the file's data are reorganized by the reporting program to produce the Summary Management Report listing itself (the paper equivalent of the 1665-byte data records). The data file must remain available from the 106M job for submission to BLS to note the success of the refiling on a monthly basis. Otherwise, the printed report is generally more useful. | ||||||
