Selections for Mailing File Data Set Names: EAR.SEL.SINGLES, -MULTIS Service Center DSNs YBUssW.A145.SEL.SINGLES, -MULTIS ('ss' = State FIPS code) Type of File: Sequential File Layout: EARSELM This is a dual-format file used for storing both single account and multi-family refiling form data. The difference is in the forms output, since NVS (single-account) forms have a one-to-one mapping with the refiled single accounts, whereas NVM (multi-family) refiling forms split out and group the component worksites of the family by NAICS code, either severally or individually. The output forms will vary markedly in volume and complexity with the number of worksites and the range of industries involved. The initial data for this file are loaded from the Refiling File using the single, multi, and non-classified data collection programs. Except for non-classified account processing (which doesn't need industry-specific descriptions), the initial file is sorted into industry sequence to process in a separate additional batch program that adds the multi-line NAICS description data to the records. This produces a "mailing ready" file in the same format, which needs to be externally sorted once more before the forms can be printed in U-I account number order by the forms printing programs of the 103D/G or 104D/G jobs (the 117D job is exempt from these extra processing steps). After the forms have been generated, all four versions of this file are deleted. The SIC code and auxiliary code were removed for Version 9; simultaneously, the "N7R" switch was added to segregate establishments that are involved with the NAICS 2007 revision from those that have no 2007-revision-involvement. |
