Summary of Differences File Data Set Name: EAR.SUMM.DIFFS Service Center DSN: YBUssR.A145.SUMM.DIFFS ('ss' = State FIPS code) Type of File: Sequential File Layout: EARSDIF The Summary of Differences File provides auxiliary data to the first quarter macro edit processing in EXPO. This file shows summarized code change data, merged into the county-owner-NAICS (or owner-NAICS-county) affiliations they possess. Although listed as an EARS file, it is produced with EXPO data. The file is produced by Job ES2J242D (to perform the EXPO micro- and macro-level edits and integrating the two reports). First an EXPO program (ES2UT25) builds the CCS File, which would be an EARS-related program as well, except that it uses the EXPO Micro File for drawing source data, and is used in an EXPO batch job. The CCS File contains individual code change records that had already been transferred to the EXPO Micro File by Job 13D. The CCS records are then externally sorted twice, once by new codes and the other time by old codes. The two resultant files are merged by the Summary of Differences File producing program (an EARS program, EARRF10). The file is then utilized in the macro edit program to offset code-change-related employment and wage fluctuations. It is also taken in by the micro/integrated edit program to list the code change totals with the macro data to prepare the integrated edit report. After this processing has finished, the file is eliminated. |
