The Version-8 EQUI format is actually a host of possible output options, based upon the job ID selected. Even though the current standard 1190-byte EQUI will be produced by both the 011D and the 021F job, other forms of the 021 job will produce different formats of EQUI data. The EQUI8 record has two imbedded breakpoints that are shown in the above fields list as thicker division lines. The first breakpoint appears after position 724. This was the original length of the EQUI when it was first introduced. Some federal and state programs continue to use the 724-byte format to this day. If you desire to produce a 724-byte EQUI output, the only job you can run is 021D. The second breakpoint is found after position 1060. The 1060-byte EQUI format was the second generation of EQUI, and was adopted by even more state and federal agencies than was the 724-byte format. There are three ways to produce the 1060-byte EQUI format. The first is to submit Job 021C (for the CIPSEA-compliant version of the 021D job run. The second way is to submit Job 021O, which was designed to produce an EQUI for OES usage (hence the "O" suffix on the Job ID). The third way to get a 1060-byte record length is to run Job 021F, but with the "Truncate" switch turned on (i.e., set to "Y" for "yes, truncate the record"; when the truncation switch is not set, the 021F job will produce the current standard of 1190 bytes). The 1166-byte record is the third generation of EQUI output. This format, generating the entire Version 8 EQUI output, can be produced with Job 021S. This job had no special "intended audience" like the 021F or 021O job. It was simply set up as a newer-format counterpart to the 021D job. The same selection parameters are shared among the 021C, 021D, 021O and 021S jobs. Therefore, they are only separated by the length of the output file (except for the CIPSEA-compliance checking conducted by 021C, which separates it from the 021O job (with the same record length as 021C)). Note: The EQUI8 record also contains header and trailer records in the same format as shown for the EQUI file (except that the amount of filler space will vary according to the length of the output record.
