Federal/Taxable Wages Check - Code 057
This edit checks for non-zero taxable wages applied to a federal ownership account. Since Federal government employers are not subject to the standard U-I taxation system, taxable wages should never be found for an ownership code ‘10’ account. If there is any indication that the employer is Federal (ownership code ‘10’ or type of coverage ‘9’) and the taxable wage field of either of the two edited quarters (generally current and prior quarter) shows a non-zero value, the taxable wage field is flagged and listed on the edit exception report. This is deemed a crucial-level error, so the edit flag will not be set to “Y” (for completed edits without severe error) until this situation has been resolved. BLS classification: A.1.4 or B.1.5, based on employment size. EXPO “G” code: A057 or B057.
