Indian Tribal Council Ownership Check - Code 080

Special consideration is required for Indian Tribal Council records. Since these entities do not fit neatly into any of the traditional ownership codes, it has been difficult to classify them. At first it was assumed that Indian Tribal Councils were not strictly government entities, so they were required to show a private ownership code (i.e., ‘50’). This definition was revised, however, when it was ascertained that they are essentially local government entities. So now they must show a local-government (‘30’) ownership code.

In addition to the ownership relationship, these establishments must also be classified under the Indian Tribal Council NAICS code (‘921150’). The pivotal element in these checks is the Special Indicator code in the Micro record’s administrative data. However, the edit is only conducted for active establishments. If the status code is anything other than a ‘1’ (active), the edit is bypassed. For active accounts the following two-sided check is conducted.
