Mailing/Other State Abbreviation Check - Code 110

Non-Federal accounts that have a mailing/other address (MOA) record must show a State code that is a valid State postal abbreviation. This can be one of the 50 States (‘AL’, ‘AK’, ‘AR’, etc.), ‘DC’, ‘PR’, ‘VI’, ‘CN’, ‘ZZ’, ‘AS’, ‘GU’, or an APO code (‘AA’, ‘AE’, or ‘AP’). Anything else is an unusable State code, which will be flagged and carried to the edit exception report. Although blank addresses omit this edit, a blank State code combined with another non-blank address field (city or street address line) will also be flagged. The MOA State code will be underscored in the edit report, unless the edit is concealed by the presence of a usable physical location address. In this case, however, the error code will still be stored in the Micro Edit File, available for on-line review with the ES2E screen. BLS classification: C.1.8. EXPO “G” code: C110.
