PK016

This parameter is currently in transition. Up through Version 8.0, it has been the 2-digit Maximum Employment for New or Discontinued Multi’s; now it is supposed to be the Pred/Succ Upper Parameter, a 6-digit tolerance for the new predecessor/successor edits. In both cases, however, it is a counterpart to the PK015 value just described. Under the now obsolete definition, it was the highest allowable employment level for the first reported month of a new multi account, or the highest last reported month of a terminated multi (if no predecessor/successor association is noted). The term “multi” in this case refers to accounts which have a multi indicator (MEEI) code of ‘3’ (worksite within a multi-family), ‘4’ (known multi refusing to supply worksite detail), and ‘5’ (composite worksite). Master accounts (multi code ‘2’) are exempt from this edit. The new definition is for the size cutoff at which point a predecessor/successor pairing must be flagged when its companion (the successor/predecessor) no longer exists on the Micro File. It is also used in combination with matched predecessor/successor pairs so that those pairings with one or the other member (either the predecessor or the successor) above this threshold will be fully edited as long as the other half of the pairing has at least the PK015 level of employment. The former definition carried a BLS default of 25 with a maximum of 50. Now, however, the BLS-established default for this parameter is 250 employees. This tolerance can be reduced, but cannot exceed the 250-employee level.
