PK052

This is the Missing EIN Month Count Limit, a 2-digit field used with the flagging of long-term missing Federal Employer Identification Numbers (EINs, edit code 116). This parameter will flag accounts that have shown an unknown EIN (i.e., set to zeroes) for an extended time period. These should not be allowed to lapse ad infinitum, since their U-I taxation is recorded under their EIN. BLS has set the default to 6 months (once allowed to grow to 99 before edit 116 was promoted from “E” to “A” level). This value should not be altered without the consent of the BLS National Office.

Note: PK051 was designed for Pennsylvania’s employee contribution processing, which was discontinued in 1997. When it was in effect, it was multiplied by total wages, rather than taxable wages. States using an employee contribution based on taxable wages will find that the PK051 parameter doesn’t work for them.
