This is the 6-digit Comment Code Error AME Cutoff value, which was introduced to allow for more limited-scale editing of invalid comment codes. Establishments with an unusable comment code (edit code 048) don’t need to be flagged unless they have more than just a few employees, saving the QCEW analyst some busy work. Only when the edited quarter’s employment meets or exceeds this cutoff will the invalid comment code error be flagged. The BLS-established default for this cutoff is 10 employees. This value should not be increased without BLS approval, in spite of the fact that it is a 6-digit field.
