U-I Address Type Code (IMT-UI-ADDR-TYPE)
The U-I address type is a single-digit, usually numeric value, located at position 249. It identifies the kind of address represented in the U-I mailing address fields described below. The valid values are:
- 1 = Physical location address
- 2 = Mailing address
- 3 = Corporate headquarters address
- 9 = Unknown address type
The first three values are to be used only if the address has been verified to be a physical, mailing or corporate address, respectively. Batch processing should not assume any of these values as a default. If the address type is unknown, or if no address exists in the mailing address block, the field may either be set to "9" or left as low-values.
WARNING: One of the most common mistakes made in developing an IMT File is to set the IMT-UI-ADDR-TYPE field according to the address found in the physical address block. This field refers only to the contents of the mailing address block. If a value of '1' is entered to denote that the physical address block does in fact contain a physical address, it could enable the EXPO micro editing process to check the contents of the U-I address block under the rules of physical locations. Please make sure that this field is set according to the content of the U-I tax address block only. It should be noted, however, that this field is not passed to the EQUI deliverable, nor is the U-I address block edited unless no other address exists for the account.
