MOA Street Address Line 1 (IMT-MO-ADDRESS)

This is the first of two street address lines for the mailing/other address block. It is a 35-byte, alphanumeric field, located in positions 397 - 431. The mailing/other address does not transfer to the Micro File as other IMT fields do. Instead, it is forwarded by the MI01 program to the Micro Omni Auxiliary (MOA) File, formerly known as the Mailing/Other Address File. The MOA File is an indexed (VSAM) file, containing only supplemental records including mailing addresses, email addresses, website addresses, contact information, supplemental predecessor/successor data, etc.

Note: The mailing/other address information can be loaded from the Input Micro Auxiliary Transaction (IMAT) File, which allows updates to all MOA File data. MOA updates from the IMT File are provided for compatibility with older versions.

Normally, mailings from the QCEW unit will use the U-I tax address block (noted earlier) for addressing the forms, labels and/or envelopes. The mailing/other address is provided as an override to the U-I address in cases where there is more complete, more recent, or more relevant information available. Because of this override capability, "other" address information is not useful to EXPO applications. As such, this could be referred to as the Mailing Address. The "Other" portion of the name is included to comply with BLS standardization designs.

Most commonly, this address block is not provided in IMT records. The usual method of entry is via on-line entry when the U-I tax address is incorrect or in variance from the proper mailing address for MWR or refiling form delivery. Since the U-I address information is immutable, any attempts at on-line changes to the U-I mailing address block will instead generate a Mailing/Other Address record. If supplemental mailing address information is available from other sources, however, the information can always be provided in the IMT record for automated entry.

If no alternative mailing address exists (which is the norm) or if no change exists to this address block (also the norm), it should be left as low-values. Otherwise the entire address block should be filled in to allow complete field comparisons.
