Non-Classified Accounts (NCA) Response Code (IMT-NCA-RC)
This is a two-byte field found in positions 636 and 637. It represents the refiling response code dealing with non-classified accounts (NCA’s). This refiling process is performed on a flow basis, and does not rely upon the Refiling File to store account information. Those establishments that do not yet possess a NAICS code (i.e., they are set to ‘999999’) are selected quarterly for solicitation via the EARS 117D job. Because this process is automated, and closely tied to EXPO/EARS processing, the NCA response code should never be found in State Tax File data; therefore, this field should be set to low-values.
FILLER
A 4-byte filler appears in positions 638 – 641. At one point the IMT-NCA-RC and this filler were combined into an administrative NAICS code. This area should remain as low-values.
