ES2UT69 checks for various problems in the Wage Data Temp File. It checks for an empty file, and it checks for data that are in ASCII format, rather than EBCDIC. It also checks for equality of data in the existing Wage Data Summary File. If any of these conditions are found, this will stop the progress of the program with a return code. This will, in turn, stop the job so that problems will not be made manifest in the Micro and Wage Summary Files.
