Bureau of the Census
Part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the Bureau of the Census is a Federal statistical agency. As its name implies, the Census Bureau conducts the decennial census of the population, housing and monthly, annual, and/or quinquennial (conducted every five years) surveys of all major industry groups. The Census Bureau also conducts the monthly Current Population Survey (CPS) in cooperation with BLS. Data from this survey are the source of unemployment statistics.
