Job ES2J001Q - Quarterly Extract (Shift Micro File Quarters)

RUN THIS JOB - Quarterly, or as required.

This job executes the following programs (click to link to each program description):

Job Features and Functions

Job 001Q performs the initial quarterly extract of data from the State Tax File through the Input Micro Transaction (IMT) File, which is created by a State-specific program. Under normal circumstances, this job must be run to begin the quarterly processing of employment and wage data. It is to be run once each quarter.

During the processing of ES2J001Q, the Micro File is shifted forward one quarter, archiving the oldest quarter’s data in the Micro Archive File (at DMA, the archive file name is YBUssX.A145.MICRO.ARCHIVE(+0)‡1). 001Q also sets up space for the new future quarter’s data.

Micro data estimations and edits are performed, older Administrative and Quarterly Transaction Files and Narrative Comment File records are purged, and three supplemental files (the Alpha Locator File, and both the County–and Statewide–Crosswalk Files) are rebuilt from the revised micro data. The initial sequence of the Micro Edit File for the quarter is determined by the parameters supplied to the 001Q job, though it can be modified by changes to the State-specific Constants record of the Lookup File, followed by another job that includes the micro edits (001D, 002D, 028D, or 242D).

If someone wants to shift the quarters without loading an IMT file, the best job is ES2J001R, which is described next. It performs most of the processes of this job, but does not perform IMT estimation or editing processes.

1 Whenever there is a (+0) notation, it means that the file is a “GDG” (or Generation Data Group), which is a file that is saved by generations, and the more recent of these appears as relative generation (+0); earlier generations would be (-1), (-2), etc., as the relative generation number is used.
