Job 007D produces a variety of labor market information, including a Firm List Report and Market Summary Reports for a specified quarter, using the Micro File for source information. Both types of reports include quarterly employment and wage data at establishment level and summary level. Both Firm Listing and Summary Reports can be generated at a Statewide, MSA, county, or zone/township level. Each type of report is aggregated by NAICS.

These reports are primarily used for quarterly local labor market information. However, the firm listings can also be a valuable editing tool. The firm listing provides EXPO staff with information on employment, wage, and code changes from the prior quarter as well as an overview of active accounts and associated employment and wage data for the reference quarter. Statewide and county firm listings can optionally include summary totals at 6, 5, 4, 3, 2-digit, and Sector totals by NAICS structure. A special option for a firm listing includes only those records that had employment gains or declines from zero to a level at or above an employment level specified in the Lookup File. Data irregularities are quite easily identified from a visual review of the firm listing. Information available from both the Firm Listing and Summary reports can also be used in State labor market information publications and for responding to requests from labor market information users.

The Statewide, MSA, county, and zone/township Summary Reports display employment and wage data at 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 NAICS detail and/or Sectors. Options are available in this job to establish the desired level of industry detail. Of course the more detail requested, the larger the report will be. In addition, data are broken out by type coverage and ownership at the three-digit NAICS level. For each six-digit NAICS line item, a one-digit alpha code is provided to identify type coverage and ownership. The type coverage indicators, which appear first, have the following definitions:

  • "E" indicates experience-rated type coverage.
  • "R" indicates reimbursable type coverage.
  • "N" indicates non-subject.

Following the type coverage indicator, there are three-digit alpha type ownership indicators, defined as follows:

  • "PVT" indicates private ownership.
  • "FED" indicates Federal government.
  • "STA" indicates State Government.
  • "LOC" indicates Local Government.

The summary reports can also display data by NAICS code. Data can be summarized by 6, 5, 4, 3, or 2 digit NAICS code as well as by groups or sectors.

For both the Firm Listing and Summary Reports, data can be arranged in two different ways:

  • The first aggregates information for nonagricultural wage and salaried workers in the Current Employment Statistics (CES) program format.
  • The second EXPO format (formerly 202 formatting) displays data strictly by NAICS. In the CES format, establishment data classified in domestics (NAICS 814110) are not carried into county, division, and grand totals. The EXPO (formerly 202) format aligns data strictly by NAICS code. A Lookup File parameter in the State-specific constants table (line #8) determines if the CES or EXPO format is produced.

Disclosure marking or suppressing is also possible in the Summary Reports. A parameter option exists to control the treatment of disclosure data. The three options are:

  • (N) indicates unsuppressed.
  • (P) indicates that disclosure data are unsuppressed, but marked by underlining.
  • (Y) indicates that disclosure data are suppressed (i.e., not printed on the report).
