Job ES2J028D - Perform Micro Edits

RUN THIS JOB - As required.

This job executes the following programs (click to link to each program description):

Job Features and Functions

  • Performs current and prior quarter micro edits
  • No estimates are performed
  • Option to re-edit entire file for current and prior quarter (ignoring current edit flag)
  • Rebuilds Micro Edit File (for rebuilding the MEXR (Micro Edit Cross Reference) File)
  • Produces Micro Edit report in various optional formats

Job 028D performs micro edits for the current or prior quarter only. There is neither extraction of new data nor any estimation performed by this job.

The job has an option to ignore the edited flag to edit all active records including those previously edited. The job can also respect the edit flag and bypass records previously edited. Records on the Micro File records that were previously edited, but were subsequently changed on-line or that were identified with a crucial error in an earlier edit, do not have their edit flag set and are always subject to a reedit. When staff submits an on-line change to any record on the Micro File, except when comment codes only are entered on ES2C, the on-line program resets the edit flag in the record. This means when Job 028D is run, changed records are reedited. This procedure protects against data entry errors and allows the analyst another look at any data exceeding tolerance levels. Edit errors considered "crucial" prevent the edit flag from being set to "Y", thus forcing the record to be continually reedited until the error is resolved.

Job 028D includes the same edit programs contained in Jobs 001Q, 001D, and 002D. Therefore, many of the parameters in this job are the same as 001Q, 001D, and 002D. These parameters must be set in the ES2N screen before submitting the job.

It should be mentioned that the edit report sort sequence (chosen in Job 001Q) remains in effect throughout the quarter for Jobs 001D, 001S, 002D and 028D as well as in the ES2E screen, unless modified in the ES2L screen (State-specific constants table). If the sort is modified in ES2L, the next edit job that is run will reorganize the Micro Edit File in the new sort order. If it is not modified, the Micro Edit File created by Job 001Q remains in place for all other micro edit jobs throughout the quarter. The sequence of the Micro Edit File determines the order of the hard copy edit and the sequence of record to record advancement in the ES2E screen. Therefore, no parameter exists in Job 028D to sort the edit. A definition of Job 028D parameters can be found in the Related Links.

The micro edits performed by this job have tolerance levels that can be set in the ES2L screen (edit and estimations table).
