Job ES2J241D - Macro Quarters Rebuild / Crosswalks Rebuild

RUN THIS JOB - As required.

This job executes the following programs (click to link to each program description):

Job Features and Functions

  • Updates County Macro File with summed Micro File data for specified quarters
  • Updates Statewide Macro File with summed County Macro File data for all quarters on the County Macro File
    • Including those no longer on Micro File
  • Updates Crosswalk files
    • Update is limited to quarters on the Micro File

Job 241D is essentially a four-part job:

  • First, it rebuilds a consecutive range of one or more quarters on the County Macro File from Micro File data.
  • Second, it rebuilds the entire Statewide Macro File from County Macro File Data.
  • Third and fourth, it rebuilds the County and Statewide Crosswalk Files to link micro records with appropriate macro cells for the ES2D display (the ES2F display also uses the Crosswalk Files).

This job differs from 242D because it does not perform the integrated edits, but only rebuilds the Macro and Crosswalk Files. It can be used in a situation where only a few changes are made to Micro File data and the Macro File must be updated but an additional integrated edit report is not necessary. It can also be used for an early build of a future macro quarter prior to the resolution of current quarter micro edit exceptions. This makes available some preliminary macro data for analysis.

When changes are made to the Micro File in ES2C and all other micro screens except ES2D, the Micro File becomes out of balance with the Macro File. Job 241D will rebuild the County Macro Files from the Micro File. It is limited to rebuilding County Macro File data for only those quarters that are still on the Micro File. The Statewide Macro File is rebuilt for all quarters that are on the County Macro File, including those no longer on the Micro File. This procedure causes the two files to be in balance. The job also updates the County and Statewide Crosswalk Files so the ES2D and ES2F screens will display appropriate records.

A minor limitation is that the job can only rebuild a Macro File quarter for which Micro File data exists. This means that quarters older than those on the Micro File cannot be rebuilt in the Macro File.

Job 241D may be preferable for late-quarter micro changes when the integrated edits have already been run.
