Ownership Code Check - Code 012

This edit verifies that the ownership code for the processed quarter, as well as for the previous quarter, is legitimate. It uses the first digit of the ownership code, allowing only ‘1’, ‘2’, ‘3’, and ‘5’ to pass. Since there is no known change to this standard in the near future, this edit is hard coded with these values. Any other value in the ownership code is flagged (to be underscored in the edit report), and the edit flag is barred from being set to an “edits complete” status, since this is a crucial edit. Also see Code 016, which can relate to ownership code processing as well. Invalid ownership codes are also considered “gross” errors, if the account shows employment or wages at or above the gross cutoffs. BLS classification: A.1.2 or B.1.2 (depending on size of establishment). EXPO “G” code: A012 or B012.
