Blank Names Check - Code 072

Since an establishment is expected to show either a DBA/trade name or a legal/corporate name, this error code will be triggered whenever both name fields are blank. It will also underscore the name field on the edit report. The purpose of this edit is to prompt research into accounts that are unidentified as to employer or controlling company name. This condition was given added attention in Version 5.1, upgraded from a warning-level (when it was listed as Code 113) to a crucial-level condition. Later, an employment cutoff (PK070) was added, so that establishments without any employment don’t need to be subjected to this scrutiny. For those employers with at least a few employees, a name must be found for an employer to avoid this error’s recurrence in the BLS EQUI edits. This is also a “gross” error for larger employers. BLS classification: A.1.4 or B.1.5, based on size. EXPO “G” code: A072 or B072.
