New and Discontinued Macro Record Checks -Code 135 - Macro Edit Only - Program ES2MA02
This two-sided macro-level edit was introduced with EXPO Version 5.1. It is roughly equivalent to a combination of micro-level Code 139 and Code 140 edits. However, this edit uses lower tolerance levels for which it may be hard to find matching micro data.
When a macro cell represents one establishment only, this edit exception will be flagged when that establishment appears or disappears from the data, if it possesses the initial/final employment level required by the PK054 parameter (with a default of 50). Yet the establishment will not be flagged in the micro edits (Code 096/139 for a new account, Code 097/ 140 for a discontinued employer) unless it has at least double the PK054 employment level and shows no applicable predecessor/successor relationship.
Coding for this edit looks like the following equations:
Subscript pq denotes prior quarter data. Note that if more than one establishment is contained in the cell that is appearing or disappearing, there is even less likelihood of finding any micro records that can be associated with the macro exception, since the PK054 parameter is not scaled to the number of non-zero reporting units. In order to find the arriving or departing micro records that cause the micro edit, it will be necessary to check the ES2D screen for full micro data disclosure.
