Job ES2J021F - EQUI Subset Output for BLS Using 'SUBS' Group

RUN THIS JOB - As required.

This job executes the following programs (click to link to each program description):

Job Features and Functions

  • Creates a sub-set EQUI file for status 1, 2 and 9 records on cartridge for BLS in either 1060- or 1190-byte format
  • Optionally, creates a full single quarter EQUI file for status 1 and 2 records
  • Records are added to subset file through ES2C by setting cursor on desired year/quarter line and pressing F17
    • Records can also be added to SUBS group in ES2Z
  • When a multi is added to subs file in ES2Z, master and all active sub-unit are written to BLS EQUI file.
  • Job 021F deletes the contents of existing SUBS file and creates a back-up of the SUBS file (YBUscX.A145.Group.BKUP), where "'sc" is defined later
  • The job writes the EQUI file to cartridge
  • The QCEW staff should send an EQUI transmittal form to notify national office that an EQUI.FED.scYYQ file is available, where ‘sc’ represents the State postal abbreviation.
  • Used by BLS to update the National EQUI files

Job 021F creates a file of replacement data for the BLS National Office files. It can create either a single-quarter full EQUI file for all status 1 and 2 experience-rated and reimbursable records, or a single or multiple quarters sub-set. The complete single-quarter file and the sub-set file can be in either a 1060 or 1190-byte format and are intended to supply replacement Micro data to BLS for the national files. The complete file includes only status 1 and 2 records for a specified quarter on the Micro File. The sub-set file is used when BLS requests replacement data for one or more quarters for specific employers. In this option, the specified account numbers must be entered into the ‘SUBS’ group in ES2Z. Then, only records in the ‘SUBS’ group of ES2Z and that are on the Micro File in the specified quarter as status 1, 2 , or 9 are written to the replacement file. Each time Job 021F is run, it deletes the existing records in the ‘SUBS’ group. A regular EQUI transmittal form should be completed, indicating ‘other’ as the type of file and noting the file name as EQUI.FED.saYYQ – as full set or sub-set file.

Records are entered into the ‘SUBS’ file from the ES2C screen. Enter the account number to view the record in ES2C. Tab to the year/quarter line for which BLS has requested data. With the cursor on the specified year/quarter line, press F17 and the account number and year/quarter will be written to the ‘SUBS’ file. Repeat the process for each account and for each year and quarter for which BLS has requested data. The ‘SUBS’ file and its contents can be viewed in the ES2Z CICS screen. Once all of the desired records are in the ‘SUBS’ file, submit Job 021F to prepare the BLS deliverable. Job 021F will then delete the ‘SUBS’ file so it will be ready for the next BLS request for replacement records.

The year/quarter is required when 021F is submitted in the C-LIST. Use the most recent quarter’s data to be included on the EQUI file. The YYQ entered on the C-LIST becomes the last part of the output file name (i.e. EQUI.FED.saYYQ).

If a sub-set file is used, the year quarter is included in the ES2Z screen for the ‘SUBS’ group and only those records on the ES2Z sub-set file and that are found on the Micro File as status 1, 2, or 9 for the indicated quarter(s) are written to the EQUI file for the National Office.

If a complete set is used, active and inactive (status 1 and 2) experience-rated and reimbursable records from the Micro File are written to the EQUI file for the National Office for the year/quarter specified in ES2N.

If a sub-set file is created for Job 021F, the ‘SUBS’ file parameter should be set to “Y” and the year quarter and group code should be left blank.

If a complete quarter file is created the ‘SUBS’ file parameter should be set to “N”, the year quarter parameter should be entered, and the group code should be left blank.

Note: A group other than ‘SUBS’ can be specified in the parameters and processed by Job 021F, if for some reason that need should ever arise.

The output file from 021F is in the standard EQUI format, and includes a header and trailer record. For a complete quarter EQUI, only a single quarter is included. For a sub-set file, multiple quarters can be included. As previously mentioned, the full EQUI includes all status 1 & 2 records and the sub-set EQUI includes status 1, 2, and 9 records for the specified quarter(s).
