Small Employment without Wages Check - Code 130 - Micro Edit Version

It is generally anticipated that an establishment with several employees will pay wages to those employees during the quarter. This edit is designed to flag those accounts that show employment but have zero total wages. The average monthly employment must be greater than that specified by the PK008 Lookup File parameter to be considered for this edit. If flagged, however, the total wage field is underscored in the edit report, since it is suspected that the total wages were accidentally omitted, rather than that the reported employment was bogus.

Note: If this condition is flagged, it exempts the quarter from the quarterly AQW change edit (Code 092/127), as noted in that edit’s preconditions.

This is one of the standard employment-and-wage data exceptions that can be associated to macro data if the assigned macro cell shows an error (identified by the presence of a record in the Macro Edit File during the Job 242D run). If this is the case, the county-ownership-NAICS codes will be assigned to the beginning of the Micro Edit File record key to force this record to the integrated portion of the edit exception report. If employment does not fall below the PK067 cutoff, this is considered a “gross” error. These conditions appear on the Job 018D report and are given high priority by the BLS “A” list hierarchy. BLS classification: A.1.6 or B.1.7, based on employment level. EXPO “G” code: A130 or B130.
