UIA Street Address Line 1 (IMT-UI-ADDRESS)

This is the first of two street address lines used in the U-I tax address block. It is a 35-character alphanumeric field located at positions 286 - 320. The IMT-UI-ADDR-TYPE field, described earlier, is connected with the U-I tax address. If the IMT-UI-ADDR-TYPE has a value of "1", this represents the physical location street address (which should be the same as the IMT-PL-ADDRESS field, if it has been filled in). In the case of multiple-worksite master accounts, the U-I address is the default used for mailing out the MWR forms, both for initial mailing and for any supplemental mailings for late reporters. This is countermanded, however, if a mailing/other address exists in the Micro Omni Auxiliary (MOA) File. This will be more aptly described in the IMT-MOA-ADDRESS and subsequent field descriptions in a later portion of this document.

Should the State source files contain a double-line street address, the second line should be sent to the IMT-UI-ADDRESS2 field, which is described next. It is important, however, to make sure that this address line contains enough identifying information to make mailings deliverable, since it is possible that some mailed forms will not have adequate space set aside for this additional line.

It is important to recognize that the only source for the U-I address should be the State's U-I Tax File. Once entered into the EXPO-QCEW system, this address block cannot be changed on-line. If a change is attempted, the system produces an entry in the Micro Omni Auxiliary File instead of altering the U-I address. This is by BLS regulation, so that integrity of U-I tax address information can be maintained (regardless of the quality or deficiencies of this information). It is therefore important to be as careful as possible in establishing the U-I address information to avoid data problems later on.

The U-I tax address of a worksite record may be set to the master account's U-I address (which can be automated in the MI01 interface program through a program option), since worksites are not to receive mailings directly. If no U-I address exists, or if the IMT record doesn't deal with address data, it should be left as low-values.
